Distribution and threats study of a new population of Iberodorcadion (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae) in Portugal.

IMG_0912This project was developed from the discovery of a new population of Iberodorcadions. A new population of this beetle, included in Cerambycidae family, was made in a mountainous region south of the Douro’s river. To date, this species was known only to the north of this river, whereby is important to know the specifics of this population, including their distribution and threats.

Population ecology of mountain Spectacled Warbler (Sylvia conspicillata) – What threats that come from the base?

DSCF4298_assAfter your confirmation in breeding season of 2010, the OII is finally able to initiate the study of the population ecology of Spectacled Warbler (Sylvia conspicilatta) located at higher altitude in Portugal (over 1700m).  Discovery on the higher end of its altitudinal distribution, this population is susceptible to the smallest environmental changes. This fact makes this population an important case study of direct and indirect effects of climate change on populations of mountains of southern Europe.
